Approval marks halfway point in regional adoption of the updated agreement
The Sacramento City Council has approved the Water Forum 2050 Agreement, marking an important milestone as Water Forum members continue to bring the updated agreement to their governing boards and councils for approval across the region.
As one of the region’s largest Water Forum members, the City of Sacramento’s approval represents a significant step forward in the process. With this action, the City joins 17 other Water Forum membersthat have already approved the agreement—bringing the regional approval process to its halfway point.
“Each approval reflects the commitment and persistence of Water Forum members who have worked for more than five years through the negotiation process to reach this point,” said Water Forum Executive Director Ashlee Casey. “With every vote, the region now moves closer to putting this agreement into action and continuing the work of protecting the lower American River while supporting reliable water supplies and building on the legacy of the last 25-years since the original agreement was signed.”
