Water Forum members are actively engaged in the work of the Water Forum. They participate in a various venues to discuss a range of topics, such as flows in the lower American River and operations at Folsom Dam, groundwater sustainability, water use efficiency, climate resiliency, fisheries health, and protection of the river. The Water Forum members engage regularly with technical experts, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders to implement the agreement, including development of the lower American River flow management standard and habitat management efforts. Water Forum members are also actively implementing the water management elements of the Water Forum Agreement including water conservation, groundwater management, and dry year actions.
The Water Forum is organized by caucuses – Business, Environmental, Public, and Water – which represent the four core interest areas reflected in the agreement. Caucus members meet on a monthly basis regularly to coordinate their activities. Members of all four caucuses meet quarterly at Water Forum plenary meetings to coordinate actions and provide mutual updates.
